Finding an empty table on a terrace can be a thankless task in Barcelona’s summer months, especially if you would prefer not to have to sell your house/teeth/significant other to pay for a G&T. The Antic Teatre‘s bar and terrace make a refreshing change – not only is there usually a bounty of free tables on the tree-shaded terrace, but drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is more that of an arty haven than a backstreet boozer.
Housed in a building dating from 1650, Barcelona’s Antic Teatre is an independent arts venue specialising in visual theatre, giving the adjoining bar a nice buzz of theatrical conversation, accompanied by a welcoming bar. The food and drink on offer is simple (think sandwiches), but cocktails are decent and at only €5.50 each, you can try a couple to really make sure.
