Restaurante Romesco, home style cooking in arty El Raval (Barcelona)

Exterior del Bar Romesco
If you happened to have a Spanish mum (like we do) and she kept calling to make sure you were eating enough (like ours does), she would want you to go somewhere like Bar Romesco in the Raval (Barcelona). Hearty, home-style dishes at rock-bottom prices (mains from just €4) and a neighbourhood ambience make this place a big hit, and a must-visit if you want a taste of real life in the centre of Barcelona. Especially busy at lunchtimes and popular with all ages, the Romesco can get busy but is well worth waiting a couple of minutes for a table to come free. For the more adventurous of our readers, local delicacies like lamb’s head and tripe (a Catalan favourite) feature on the menu among more pedestrian favourites. And yes, Mama, we ate our veg.
