El Rey de la Gamba, seafood heaven in Barcelona

Seafood tapas in Barcelona, Spain

El Rey de la Gamba, Barcelona

Thanks to his overwhelming success, El Rey de la Gamba (‘The Prawn King’) is now the proud owner of not one but two eponymous restaurants that take up a good stretch of prime Barceloneta real estate.  As well as some of the best seafood tapas in the city, the restaurant has a shady outside terrace and an air-conditioned interior with nice monogrammed tablecloths and customised tablewear.  Yes, ladies and gents, this is cutre gone classy.

The food

Enormous portions of fresh seafood with an excellent line in paella and black rice (‘arroz negro’).  Seafood platters that could only really be described in terms of a crustacean apocalypse.  Mouth-wateringly good calamares and excellent tapas.  House wine 7€ a bottle.
