What’s the deal?
Yes, we are taking you down a dark alleyway. But fear not! For this is Bar Pasajes, one of Barcelona’s most unique watering holes. Occupying a covered walkway that runs between Calle Trafalgar and Sant Pere Mes Alt (and makes a great shortcut), the bar has been cleverly shoehorned in to the old lean-tos of empty shops.
Manly meat sandwiches, pinchos (croquetas and bombas a big hit), and home made Argentinian empanadas (savoury filled pastries). If you visit in summer, the gazpacho is a must. Also, for those Anglo-Saxons who miss a proper-sized beer, this is your place – ask for a cerveza grande.
What we ate
2 (big) cañas
1 plate of hoummus and flatbreads
|Booth at Bar Pasajes, Barcelona|
Friendly empanada wizards who (if you’re nice) are forthcoming with tasters of whatever is on today’s menu.
The Verdict: Will we be going back?
It would be rude not to.
