|Bar Mundial from Placa Sant Agusti Vell|
What’s the deal?
Maybe it’s the boxing memorabilia? Perhaps the erratic specials list, chosen according to the time-honoured tradition of ‘whatever chef fancies making today’? Or could it be the heavenly tapas? Whatever it is that makes Bar Mundial such a hit continues pulling in the punters even after three generations in the same family.
This grande dame of tapas restaurants is pushing 90 years of age and, as is the habit of many a Spanish granny, sitting pretty just off a handsome square between Sant Pere and El Borne. If Bar Mundial was anything like our granny, she would be shouting rude things at handsome young men. But we digress.

Imbued with the superpower we would all choose if we had the choice…the ability to carry a GIANT TRAY OF FANCY DESSERTS through a crowded restaurant and, for that matter, wherever the heck we wanted to carry a giant tray of fancy desserts.
Our favourite bits
We adored the memorabilia from boxing’s golden age, and Bar Mundial’s knock-out tapas really sealed the deal for us. It’s a little bit more expensive than our cutre usuals, but well worth the extra pennies.

Not so sure
We usually finish every scrap of food, but the chistorra was just a little bit too greasy for us to polish off.
