Coffee at Caffè Terzi is not like coffee anywhere else. This unassuming café is located in the heart of Bologna’s beautiful city centre and has earned a well-deserved reputation for serving the best brew in town since opening in 2002.
Terzi is situated just a couple of streets back from the city’s main square, and isn’t much to look at from outside. Inside, however, is a different matter. On any given day, late morning, the bar will be packed with doctors, lawyers, well-to-do ladies and workers from the surrounding streets. And they all come for the coffee.
And in Terzi, you don’t just have coffee. You watch while the baristas weigh out specially chosen blends to the nearest gram for each espresso they serve. You watch them carefully shave a piece of orange peel, twist a drop of juice into your cup and only then pour your coffee. You see them shave flakes of chocolate onto the just-dense-enough foam of your cappuccino. For tea drinkers, you choose which kind of honey you’d like from a selection. And then you get to drink it. And it is good.
Prices are reasonable, especially if you drink at the bar or at one of the standing tables. We recommend standing in the front part of the café with the locals for the atmosphere- but there is a plush seating area in the back if you would like to take the weight off.
